Description

With showy orange-red flowers and bright red stamens, this is an excellent plant for tropical schemes. It is also useful in desert settings, complete with infrequent, deep supplemental water. It can grow to 10' tall and wide. It is best if cut to the ground in early spring to regenerate new stems. Ripe seeds are poisonous. It does not look good in winter months. Growth is rapid in summer. It prefers good drainage. Prune to ground in late winter. There is a nectar supply from spring to fall.
